4 Essential Skills All Motorists Need

Before you get behind the wheel and head out on the road, you'll want to have some essential skills to ensure your safety and the safety of other drivers. No matter whether it's your first time driving or you've been at it for years, you can always do more to increase safety while you drive. In this guide, you'll learn some of the basics that every driver should know. more 4 Essential Skills All Motorists Need 1. Maintaining the Tires Your car's tires are the only point of contact it has with the road, which is why maintaining them properly is so important for safe driving. Tires that are improperly inflated not only reduce gas mileage, but they also have a tendency to cause flats and blowouts. Some vehicles are equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system that makes it easy to see the psi level of the tires. You can find out what the proper psi is for your tires by checking the sticker found on the pillar inside the driver's side door. 2. Checking the Oil Oil is what keeps your car's engine and other major components functioning properly. Vehicles need to have their oil changed regularly, as it gets dirty and stops working as it should. To check your oil, open the hood and look for the oil dipstick, which is typically labeled so you can find it easily. Pull it out and wipe it off. Place it back in the hole and pull it out again. You'll want to take note of the oil level as well as the oil's color and consistency. The dipstick is marked where the oil level should be, and if the oil looks black or gritty, it's time for a change. 3. Driving in Bad Weather Regardless of where you live, you're sure to encounter bad weather at some point when you're traveling. Knowing how to handle weather conditions like snow, ice, and heavy rain will help you drive with increased safety through these types of conditions. Wet, slippery roads affect the handling of any vehicle. Make sure you drive slowly in inclement weather and don't hesitate to pull off the road if you don't feel comfortable continuing. 4. Braking Suddenly Sometimes, things appear in the road suddenly, causing you to have to stop quickly. Sudden braking isn't recommended, but if you do have to stop quickly for some reason, you'll want to stay in control of your vehicle. When you apply the brakes hard and fast, you can easily start to fishtail. This is when the back of your car sways. If this happens, ease off the brake and don't overcorrect by steering rapidly in one direction or another. You may have to slowly pull off of the road in order to regain control. Don't drive without knowing these essential skills. Having the right knowledge and experience will make you a better, more courteous driver. If you're in need of a safe, reliable vehicle that will get you around in comfort, stop by Romeo Ford of Kingston and they can help get you into the drivers seat of some of America's most reliable and trusted vehicles. Tips for Working From Home With Your Kids

The coronavirus pandemic has forced many businesses to close and many employees to work from home. When under the same roof as your family, working for home can be challenging. As such, be sure to follow these tips for effectively working from home with your kids. Establish clear boundaries If you have little ones, it may be difficult for them to understand why you’re working instead of playing with them. Accordingly, it’s important for you to sit them down and have a conversation about what working from home entails. Explain that there are specific tasks that you need to complete before you can spend time with them. If your home office has a door, let them know that while the door is closed, they cannot enter the room, unless there is an emergency. Create fun schedules There are many activities that your children can enjoy without an adult present. To keep your kids entertained and out of your office space, give your kids a loose schedule or list of activities they can do. These activities may including watching TV shows, playing board games, reading books and making crafts. Give yourself a break It’s unrealistic to expect yourself to work uninterrupted for eight hours each day. Don’t be too hard on yourself if it takes you longer to get a task done or you need to check on your kids every so often. Furthermore, be open with your company if you need more flexible hours or if you expect conference calls to be a bit more hectic.   We at Romeo Ford in Kingston, New York, hope you are able to successfully work from home. If you’re looking for a new family hauler, check out our inventory online.

Indoor Activities When You’re at Home With the Kids

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are spending more time at home than before. While this can feel stressful and overwhelming at time, it also gives us all more time to bond with our kids. Here are a few fun indoor activities you can try to add some fun to your days at home. Card games A deck of cards can easily turn into hundreds of different games. Kid-friendly card games include Go Fish, War, Memory, Old Maid, and Crazy Eights. Pen and paper games With just a sheet of paper and a pen or two, you can create fun puzzle games. Try simple games like Hangman, Dots and Squares, Sprouts, and Why? Because. Toilet paper roll cities If your kids have grown tired of play dough, bring out some new materials they can build with. Collect empty toilet paper or paper towel rolls, popsicle sticks, cardstock, and paint or markers. They can paint the rolls and use the paper to make windows, doors, and roofs. Puzzles You probably have a handful of puzzles stored somewhere in your house. Pull them out, let your kids pick one out, and put the puzzle together as a family. You can also let your kids try making their own by drawing pictures on heavy paper or cardboard and then cutting them into interesting shapes. Romeo Ford wishes you and your family a safe and pleasant spring. Remember to call us for any vehicular needs this season.

Ford Insure Now Available in FordPass™ App

So you’ve just bought your new Ford car or truck. The only problem is, you’ve got to get the vehicle insured before you can take it on the road — that’s where Ford’s new Ford Insure and FordPass™ App come into play.   Though Ford’s new insurance policy, underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance, actually launched last fall, the new FordPass™ option is an exciting update for consumers. The product was designed to take away the “pain points of ownership” and to reward car and truck owners for safe driving habits, according to CEO of Ford Credit Marion Harris. The app will come pre-loaded with information about your vehicle when you buy it, saving you significant time in the application process. After you purchased a policy from Ford, the app tracks and shares vehicle data such as how far you drive, hard braking, heavy acceleration, and idle time. Ford then uses this data to calculate discounts to read you for safe driving. You can net up to a 40 percent discount, according to the brand. If you happen to get into an accident, not only can you notify emergency services, but the app also lets you notify Ford. This means that you can begin the claim-filing process as soon as there is a claim to be filed, expediting the process so you can receive your insurance money and fix your Ford faster. Contact us here at Romeo Ford for more information about the FordPass™ App and its new feature.

What We Know About the 2021 Ford Mach-E

Since 1964, the world has loved the thrilling Ford Mustang. Now, for the first time ever, the Mustang family is growing with the addition of the 2021 Mustang Mach-E. This is an all-electric, coupe-like SUV that is designed to give you just as much excitement as the gasoline-powered Mustang.   The Mustang Mach-E comes standard with an advanced 75.7 kWh battery. This battery delivers an EPA-estimated 230 miles of electric range. If you want to drive even further, consider the extended range option that comes with a 98.8 kWh battery and an estimated range of 300 miles. Like its standard Mustang sibling, the Mach-E will come with high-performance thrills. The Mach-E GT Performance Edition has a targeted 0-60 mph time in the mid 3-second range. It will also have an estimated output around 459 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. Along with its impressive performance, the Mach-E will come with some innovative features. In the space where a gasoline engine would normally sit, the Mach-E comes with some front trunk storage space. The 4.8-cubic-foot plastic-lined space is water-resistant, washable, and comes with a built-in drain. This makes it an ideal spot for keeping some food and drinks cold during a tailgate party. New Video Reveals 2021 Ford Bronco Prototype’s Style and Capability

The upcoming Bronco is already getting people excited with the release of a new video. The 2021 Ford Bronco prototype, wrapped in checkered camouflage, races around the Mohave Desert for all to see.   To the sound of heavy metal music, the new Bronco SUV impresses as it tears up the desert rocks and trails. Its power makes it look more like the Ford Bronco R race prototype as it whips through off-roading challenges. Its obvious shape is a head-turner. Harkening back to the old Bronco, it is heavy in the front with a smaller, arched covering in the back. It is most likely because it is using the same front as a Ranger with the body-on-frame platform. We don’t know much about the new Bronco. It’s supposed to have powertrains like the newest Ranger, but a manual option will be available. You can choose between two door and four door arrangements. A hybrid version is in the works to suit the environmentally-conscious. And interestingly enough, the new Bronco will be getting a little brother when it arrives on the market. First unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in 2017, this model is the first Bronco to be produced in the past 25 years, as The Drive points out. See it when it debuts sometime this spring. For even more thrilling updates from Ford, contact us here at Romeo Ford. Or stop by to test-drive your favorite Ford model.

Try This If You’ve Derailed Your New Year’s Resolution

Setting goals is a great thing, but staying on track is what matters. Unfortunately, especially in those beginning stages of starting a new habit, it can be hard to stick to it. If you’ve already fallen off track with your New Year’s resolution, don’t get up. Get back on the wagon with these easy tips. Find your “why” A great way to stay on track is to evaluate why you’re doing something. If you lose motivation, it may be because you haven’t found your reason yet. If you’re exercising, are you doing it to lose weight, become stronger, be healthy, or something else? Are you learning a new language because you want to? Asking these questions is important, especially if you realize you want to do a different resolution entirely. See failure as an opportunity If you’ve gotten off track a few times, you may need to take a look at your approach. Your system or routine may not be working for you. Finding the right way to approach your goals is half the battle. Be accountable Some people aren’t motivated by themselves. They need the influence of someone else to track their progress. If this sounds like you, consider talking to a spouse, friend, or family member about your goals.   Maybe one of your 2020 goals was to take better care of your current vehicle or invest in a new one. That’s definitely a resolution we can help with here at Romeo Ford! Call us to schedule a service appointment or stop by to browse our 2020 model lineup.

Decorating Your Ford with Christmas Lights

So you’ve decorated your lawn, your house, and your tree for the holidays, but what if you could decorate your Ford, too? If you really want to add some pizzazz to your Christmas party, here are our tips for decorating your Ford with Christmas lights. Only decorate for events While it would be cool to see a Ford covered in Christmas lights driving down the highway, it’s probably illegal. As a result, you should only decorate your Ford for events where you’ll be taking them off afterwards. Get a power inverter A vehicle’s car battery alone typically can’t power a string of Christmas lights. That’s why you need a power inverter. The 12V DC produced by the car battery is converted to 110V AC by the inverter in order to power the Christmas lights. Use outdoor lights This may seem obvious, but your best bet is to use string lights rated for outdoor use. These are the kind you’d put on a house rather than on your Christmas tree, for example. This is so the elements won’t cause any problems for you, especially rain. Secure the lights well You don’t want your Christmas lights to drag. When you decorate, make sure you keep everything secured. Drivers can use anything from zip ties to magnets to keep Christmas lights securely attached to your Ford.   Romeo Ford wishes you and your family a Merry Christmas. For more ways to decorate your truck or for suggestions on holiday events to attend, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Helpful Updates Come to the Ford Roadside Assistance Program

Roadside assistance is a critical part of Ford’s customer service. According to Sterling Black, the manager of Ford and Lincoln Roadside Operations, roadside services provide a meaningful experience for drivers in need. Reliable service can provide a sense of trust between drivers and automakers, so Ford has released some helpful updates to the Ford Roadside Assistance Program. Now, Ford is including Spanish-language roadside assistance, allowing more drivers to have an easier time receiving battery jump starts, lock-out assistance, flat-tire changes, fuel and fluid delivery, towing, and winching. Further, it’s letting all customers track the locations of service providers that are en route to lend assistance.   Other improvements involve streamlining the process of calling for assistance, reducing wait times, and making the program’s options easier to understand.   Before the update, 88 percent of Ford Roadside Assistance users rated the service as good or excellent. While Black is understandably proud of that rating, he also values continuous improvement for the service and seeks to garner a 100 percent customer satisfaction rating.   Your vehicle qualifies for Ford Roadside Assistance for the first 60,000 miles or five years. You can also call for Ford Roadside Assistance if you’ve been in an accident and require assistance.   Want to learn more about the benefits of driving a Ford? Come to Romeo Ford in Kingston.
