Roadside assistance is a critical part of Ford’s customer service. According to Sterling Black, the manager of Ford and Lincoln Roadside Operations, roadside services provide a meaningful experience for drivers in need. Reliable service can provide a sense of trust between drivers and automakers, so Ford has released some helpful updates to the Ford Roadside Assistance Program. Now, Ford is including Spanish-language roadside assistance, allowing more drivers to have an easier time receiving battery jump starts, lock-out assistance, flat-tire changes, fuel and fluid delivery, towing, and winching. Further, it’s letting all customers track the locations of service providers that are en route to lend assistance.   Other improvements involve streamlining the process of calling for assistance, reducing wait times, and making the program’s options easier to understand.   Before the update, 88 percent of Ford Roadside Assistance users rated the service as good or excellent. While Black is understandably proud of that rating, he also values continuous improvement for the service and seeks to garner a 100 percent customer satisfaction rating.   Your vehicle qualifies for Ford Roadside Assistance for the first 60,000 miles or five years. Are you ready to understand why the right fuel matters? Let’s get into it! Every vehicle on the road is designed differently and needs a specific fuel level in order to perform at its’ best. For example, each vehicle has a specific gas type that will help it perform at maximum capacity. While we all like to save a little bit of money here and there, filling your tank with a lower fuel level when it requires a higher one can lead to some pretty negative effects. Not only was your vehicle designed to take premium octane levels, but lower levels allow combustion to occur at a faster rate which can lead to engine problems. So, if this is you, you probably hear your engine make knocking noises, plus you will reduce your car’s power and fuel economy, and run the risk of causing engine damage. Let’s reverse the roles, the risks are not as great if you choose to use a higher octane fuel when you usually use regular. While you might not run into issues but you also won’t notice any extra benefits. So, in short, save yourself the cash in your wallet and choose to fill up your tank with the appropriate octane level. What is the actual difference between fuel levels? The most obvious difference is the price associated with premium octane levels. Premium fuel tends to run about 20 cents higher than regular fuel which is pretty obvious at first glance when you pull up to the pump. Premium fuel comes with a higher octane level, as well as having a high price tag. Those numbers are commonly seen as 92 or 93 and 87 at the pump and indicate the different octane levels. Premium is a higher number and regular gas is the lower number. But what are octane levels? Octane levels indicate how much compression the fuel can withstand before igniting. For example, the higher octane gas won’t pre-ignite or explode as quickly as lower octane gas. Science, yeah! Changing your engine’s coolant might be a scary, far off land that you don’t really want to experience. But, this is an important part of owning a vehicle and can save you some time and frustration when it comes to regularly servicing your vehicle. Follow our DIY list below and let us show you just how easy and pain-free checking your engine’s coolant truly is! First, engine coolant loses anticorrosive properties and lubricating ability over time. While it is recommended to change your coolant every 30,000 miles - you can take measures that will extend the life of that. Checking on your engine’s coolant can help keep your vehicle running longer and better. DO NOT work on a hot engine or open the cap of the reservoir when your vehicle is still hot. If you do, you run the risk of burning yourself on the engine or the coolant itself. Pop open your hood and locate the coolant reservoir - this is often times toward the back, near your windshield. If your reservoir is transparent, you should be able to see a “full” line indicating that your coolant is full and you do not need to add more. If your reservoir is not transparent, pop off the cap (when the vehicle is cool) and look for the line. If you need to add more coolant, use a premixed solution of 50% water and 50% antifreeze. If you do not purchase a premixed solution, follow the directions to create the 50/50 mixture needed for your radiator to properly function. Your coolant should have a color to it such as, red, yellow, green, or blue. If the coolant is color-less, rusty, or has a greasy film or sludgy - bring your vehicle in for service ASAP. This is commonly known as a gasket leak and needs proper tools to fix the issue. Once you have filled the coolant to the appropriate level, pop the cap back on and You’re done! While you’ve got the hood open, give your hoses a squeeze to ensure they are still healthy and working properly. Hoses that are too squishy or may be bulging should be replaced as soon as possible.
