Fall is quickly approaching, which means temperatures will soon be dropping. What else will start to drop? That’s right, your tire’s air pressure. Did you know that for every 10-degree drop in temperature, tire pressure decreases one to two PSI? If not, now you do. You may have also noticed that your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light lights up more frequently in the colder months. If you have noticed this, give thanks to those dropping temperatures once again!

We recommend that you check your tire pressure regularly during the fall to winter months and, of course, when your TPMS light shows up on your dashboard. It is a good idea to get in the habit of checking the pressure at least once a month or each morning before you head out for the day when temperatures are extreme. Most often, you’ll see the TPMS light show up in the morning when temperatures are the lowest. Your light might turn off, but it is a good idea to check and fill up even after temperatures rise.

Keeping your PSI at the correct level will enhance your safety, tire’s health, and increase gas mileage. Incorrect tire pressure can decrease your gas mileage by about 0.3 percent for each one PSI drop in pressure of all four of your tires. When your tires are properly inflated, you can increase your gas mileage by 3.3 percent. Now that’s saving!

If you own a newer vehicle, your TPMS indicator might not alert you until your tires are significantly under-inflated. And, that’s no good! We suggest that you stay alert, frequently check your tires and be ready to fill up when needed, especially during drastic weather conditions or temperature changes.

Treat yourself to a new set of tires before the fall weather really sets in and temperatures drop way below what we like them to be! Stop in to see us today and let our team take care of all of your tire needs! Hurry, those leaves are starting to fall.

Hello and welcome to the inaugural edition of the Romeo Auto Group Newsletter! Between local events and new vehicle launches, there is so much happening within our communities and the automotive world that we wanted to give you a quick, easy to read, monthly recap of what’s going on!

This month, we’re talking about the Dutchess County Fair and the South Glens Falls Prom! We were dedicated to raising money for the HealthAlliance Foundation for cancer research at the Dutchess County Fair in August. Over the course of five days, the Romeo Auto Group pledged to donate $1 per selfie taken at our designated Selfie Station. We chose this local charity to keep our donation dollars in the Hudson Valley and to help find a cure for cancer.  In May, we donated a brand new car to the South Glens Falls Community Coalition to raise money for the After Prom Party. Congratulations to Micah Hill on his 2018 Kia Forte! Check out a few of our photos from both events!

We also have some fantastic deals this month at each of our 4 stores.  Check out the featured vehicle and come into any of our locations for a Romeo Real Deal!  Thank you for your support and remember, “We Sell Cars Family Style,” so come to us for a great experience and to be treated like family!

This August, a few of the top vehicles from the Romeo Auto Group were polished up and on display including the all-new Kia Stinger, the spacious Kia Sedona, and the ever-popular Kia Sorento. For Chevrolet Buick, GMC folks were able to get the first view of the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra and the dependable 2019 Chevrolet Silverado as well as the Chevy Bolt that boasts up to 251 miles per charge! Ford had the all-new F-150 and the family-friendly SUV Explorer on display. What a great way for everyone to see the new line-ups!

The Romeo Auto Group’s mission is to play a role within the surrounding community. The group chose the HealthAlliance’s Oncology Support Program, where “no one has to face Cancer alone,” in hopes to raise awareness with our “Roll Over Cancer” selfie campaign at the Dutchess County Fair. For every selfie that was taken and uploaded to our websites, the Romeo Auto Group donated $1.00 to this organization. Participants varied and everyone from infants, kids, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters to even our own employees at Romeo – got involved! You can check out some of the selfies on any of the Romeo websites, linked here: RomeoCars.com, RomeoFordofKingston.com or RomeoKia.com.  We look forward to making the “Roll Over Cancer” selfie campaign grow over the upcoming years, as well as look forward to helping better our community by giving back to those in need!

Changing your engine’s coolant might be a scary, far off land that you don’t really want to experience. But, this is an important part of owning a vehicle and can save you some time and frustration when it comes to regularly servicing your vehicle. Follow our DIY list below and let us show you just how easy and pain-free checking your engine’s coolant truly is!

First, engine coolant loses anticorrosive properties and lubricating ability over time. While it is recommended to change your coolant every 30,000 miles – you can take measures that will extend the life of that. Checking on your engine’s coolant can help keep your vehicle running longer and better. DO NOT work on a hot engine or open the cap of the reservoir when your vehicle is still hot. If you do, you run the risk of burning yourself on the engine or the coolant itself.

  • Pop open your hood and locate the coolant reservoir – this is often times toward the back, near your windshield.
  • If your reservoir is transparent, you should be able to see a “full” line indicating that your coolant is full and you do not need to add more. If your reservoir is not transparent, pop off the cap (when the vehicle is cool) and look for the line.
  • If you need to add more coolant, use a premixed solution of 50% water and 50% antifreeze. If you do not purchase a premixed solution, follow the directions to create the 50/50 mixture needed for your radiator to properly function.
  • Your coolant should have a color to it such as, red, yellow, green, or blue. If the coolant is color-less, rusty, or has a greasy film or sludgy – bring your vehicle in for service ASAP. This is commonly known as a gasket leak and needs proper tools to fix the issue.
  • Once you have filled the coolant to the appropriate level, pop the cap back on and You’re done! While you’ve got the hood open, give your hoses a squeeze to ensure they are still healthy and working properly. Hoses that are too squishy or may be bulging should be replaced as soon as possible.

For additional coolant questions, contact our service department and let them assist you through the process. They can be reached at 845-251-4077.

Is it time to take the last road trip of the summer? Although that may be sad to think about, we are hoping to make that last road trip an exciting one with some great road trip games that will help pass the time and miles to come! Take a look below and let us know what some of your favorite car games are!

I Spy

  • My favorite game! Someone starts the game by saying “I spy with my little eye….” and follows up with a clue as to what you are seeing. Each passenger takes a turn guessing at what the object may be, the person who guesses the object first gets to start the next round.

License Plate Map:

  • Grab a clipboard, a blank printed out copy of the U.S. map, and some colored pencils! When you see a license plate from one of the states, color it in and keep searching! This game will keep kids entertained for hours as they race to be the first one to get all 50 states! Plus, it will help them determine where certain states are on the map.

The Alphabet Race

  • A passenger picks a single letter from A-Z, whoever spots that letter out the window first (cars, tractor, billboard, for example) gets to start the next round. This game truly has no winner and can help pass the time especially with small children who are learning to associate letters with objects.

20 Questions

  • Another one of my favorite games! A passenger in the vehicle thinks of something/ someone and other passengers have to take turns guessing who/ what the person, place or thing is. Guesses must be answered with a simple yes or no. After each answer, the guesser gets ONE chance to guess at what is the object/person. The passenger that guesses correctly wins and gets to start the next round.

Spot The Car

  • This game is great for older children who can differentiate the difference between various vehicle models. Prepare by making a printable scavenger hunt checklist for passenger to check off when a vehicle model is found. The first passenger to get all the models wins!

Are you ready to head out? We sure are! Don’t forget these games when you’re packing up your gear and getting ready for the one last road trip! Before you leave, show your Ford a little TLC by scheduling a service appointment for a tune-up!
