The 2021 Ford Explorer is available in five different trim levels: the Base, XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum. With the Base, you get 18-inch aluminum wheels and power-adjustable mirrors. The XLT adds the Sport Appearance package, which comes with dual exhaust outlets, 20-inch Carbonized Gray wheels, and a mesh grille. The Limited offers rain-sensing windshield wipers and 20-inch Silver aluminum wheels. Your choice of nine premium paint color choices, a rear lip spoiler, and 20-inch machined wheels are all available on the ST. Lastly, the Platinum has a metal-look grille, roof rack, and 21-inch machined wheels with painted accents.

Engine

Two engine options for the Explorer help get you the power and fuel efficiency you want in an SUV. The 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder engine delivers up to 310 pound-feet of torque and 300 horsepower and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There's also a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces up to 415 pound-feet of torque and 400 horsepower. Between these two options, you get an estimated 28 mpg on the highway, so you can drive longer without filling up.

Performance

Different performance features are included on the 2021 Explorer, making every ride better. You'll find a traction control system and anti-lock braking system to help you carefully navigate and stop on all types of road surfaces. You can haul up to 5,600 pounds when the Explorer is properly equipped, so feel free to take out your boat, toys, or camper for a weekend full of fun. With the Base, XLT, and Limited, you can choose from front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, while the ST and Platinum are only available with four-wheel drive.

Interior
